In this video, I show you how to achieve Chromatic Aberration in After Effects. Some people also call it RGB Split, color fringing, purple fringing and so on. It’s a natural effect, that appears in camera lens when it can’t bring all the color wavelengths to the same focal plane. It’s a problem that camera manufacturers are trying to fix, but we sometimes want to use it creatively in our videos. It can be used to achieve a retro effect (like from the 70s or 80s) or for a glitch transition. Either way it is beneficial to learn how to do it, it’s another addition to your After Effects skillset.
